My first post
Hi everyone, and welcome to my blog! First of all, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Suzy, a master's degree student.
My
studies are mostly concentrated at chemistry, but specially on technology side.
I spend most of my day on lectures and in a laboratory. Since I’ve started
second degree, I’ve become more dedicated to the subject and also felt more satisfied
with myself. New people I’ve met are kind and open-minded. Time flies fast when
we work together.
However,
it’s still important to have a free time besides university. My biggest passion
is drawing and painting. I've been creating my own art since I remember
and I've been trying many techniques. My drawing were made with markers,
crayons, pastels…but most of all, I love simple ones drawn with a pencil in a
hurry. My old time friend has a sketchbook with my doodles, which I made while
travelling with her by train. She always has some hilarious ideas for sketches.
I found it very important to have an inspiring person like her.
Talking
about inspirations – what has inspired me to write this blog? That summer I had
an spontaneous idea to go on a trip. But I wanted to go a little further that
time… I knew it’s time to go abroad! We visited Malta. It was a challenge for
me to organise whole trip by myself, but it was very educative and definitely
wort it. I found out, that I’m quite brave and dutiful. Before we left, I’ve
done a solid research about hotels, transport, prices and attractions. In Malta
official language is English, but also Maltese. I had no idea how it sounds until
I went there, so first time I heard it, I was so intrigued. It is a Semitic
language from late medieval, and it's also believed Maltese may descends of the
extinct Phoenician language. In summer time Malta is full of tourist and
foreigner workers, which causes the encounter of many cultures in one place.
English speaking skills were necessary, I was practicing a lot during that
trip. And I realised, how important it is to improve my language, even thought
I fought I can communicate well enough.
And
here I am, writing this first post! I hope my blog will inspire you to explore
your language skills, and to have a little fun with that.
See
you soon!

I really enjoyed your post, especially the part about going to Malta. I have also been to Malta once and have similar observations. The big thing about traveling to Malta is that there is little language barrier, as a lot of people speak English. However, Maltese is completely incomprehensible to people who speak Polish and English. I was in Malta at the beggining of the coronavirus epidemic. It was a time that the rules for traveling to different countries changed from day to day and people were often afraid to risk any trip. For this reason, I managed to be there at a time when there were a negligible number of tourists. It also turned out that most of the tourists who were there came from Poland. In fact, we could always hear our native language on the bus. However, I still remember the rocky beaches and cliffs best, because my favorite pastime at the seaside is jumping into the water from high rocks :D.
